Although Toyota RAV4 might be the smallest sibling of the Toyota 4WD family it has enjoyed a healthy growth spurt that brings significant advances in interior space for both passengers and luggage.
The increased space is due to more than lengthening the body. A new underbody structure and revised rear suspension layout allows for greater interior volume. Rear seat headroom has been improved, allowing the new Toyota RAV4 to seat five adults in comfort. The aerodynamic design of RAV4 is clearly demonstrated by the smooth airflow around the car contributing to better fuel consumption, quiet running at high speeds, and enhanced stability. Inside and out, the design theme delivers a fresh approach to one of the world’s favourite compact SUV’s. The cross-section of the dashboard and door trim panels has been emphasised to create a more open and spacious feel.

The Toyota RAV4 Limited also offers a 2.4L petrol engine with manual or automatic transmission. Additional features include Vehicle Stability Control Plus, Traction Control, Hill-start Assist Control,
Downhill Assist Control (auto), alloy wheels and roof rails. The RAV4 diesel has a unique 2.2L engine and a shorter body length which is ideal for those looking for easy parking and manoeuvrability. This model also has Vehicle Stability Control Plus, Traction Control, Hill-start Assist Control and alloy wheels. Available in Manual transmission only.
The three-dimensional nature of the interior door architecture, with unique boomerang shapes, creates a feeling of sportiness. All variants of Toyota RAV4 offer advanced design inside and out. Both RAV4 and RAV4 Limited share the same body size, 2.4 litre petrol engine and manual and automatic transmissions. Look a little closer and you’ll find subtle differences. On the outside Toyota RAV4 Limited adds to the stylish exterior with front fog lights, alloy wheels, over fender flares, roof rails, and grey tinted rear side and back windows. Toyota RAV4 Diesel has a 2.2 litre turbocharged diesel engine and a unique body that is 205mm shorter than its petrol siblings.

Toyota RAV4 Exterior colours start at white and end at black with six colours in between. In any colour the crisp styling shows through. Drive any RAV4 model and you’ll be impressed with the dynamic qualities. There’s a distinctive edge in handling and performance from the Active Torque Control 4WD System that distributes torque depending on driving style and road conditions. For extra control and safety Toyota RAV4 Limited adds a selection of electronic devices that assist with stability, traction, and travel on steep terrain. Like the Limited model, Toyota RAV4 Diesel offers extra control and safety with a selection of electronic devices that assist with travel on all the surfaces you are likely to encounter.
Like its petrol powered siblings RAV4 Diesel is built around a high-integrity cabin with impact absorbing crumple zones that combine to help protect occupants should an accident occur. The vehicle also incorporates energy absorbing measures for the bonnet and front guards to reduce potential pedestrian injury. Safety features include front seat belts with pre-tensioners and force limiters, dual side door impact bars, collapsible steering column, child proof rear door locks and 3-point seat belts in all seating positions. Toyota RAV4 Diesel protects with a comprehensive airbag package that includes driver and passenger front and side airbags, front/rear curtain shield airbags and a driver’s knee airbag. A front passengers airbag on/off switch allows a childs seat to be fitted.
An Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) is standard. Contributing to safer motoring are Vehicle Stability Control Plus (VSC+),
Traction Control (TRC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC). Toyota RAV4 Diesel’s 2.2 litre D-4D engine allows you to discover the compelling capabilities of turbo diesel power by striking a balance between maximising performance and minimising fuel consumption.

The 2.2L D-4D turbo diesel engine lacks nothing when it comes to power, producing a potent 100kW at 3600rpm and 310Nm of torque at 2000-2800rpm. If you have a load to tow the 2000kg braked towing capacity of Toyota RAV4 Diesel makes it a clear cut choice. Despite its performance pedigree the low emissions and fuel consumption of just 6.6 litres* per 100km are real attractions. This unsurpassed performance and power is unleashed through a 6-speed manual gearbox, designed to provide effortless and refined gear changes that make your journey more rewarding.
D-4D’s advanced common-rail diesel technology constantly adjusts pressure, timing and fuel volume as you drive which allows for extremely precise combustion control - delivering good torque which means lively acceleration and quick response to power demand just by pressing the accelerator pedal.
The direct injection system also ensures the engine burns fuel more effectively, responding better to power demand. Burning fuel so efficiently transmits into more engine power and reduced fuel consumption with lower emissions, as energy is lost through inefficient combustion. The D-4D system also results in less noise compared to conventional diesel engines, to let you and your passengers
enjoy a more comfortable ride.

The safest Toyota RAV4 ever is built around a high-integrity cabin with impact absorbing crumple zones that combine to help protect occupants should an accident occur. The vehicle also incorporates energy absorbing measures for the bonnet and front guards to reduce potential pedestrian injury. Safety features in RAV4 include driver and passenger front airbags, front seat belts with pre-tensioners and force limiters, dual side door impact bars, collapsible steering column, child proof rear door locks and 3-point seat belts in all seating positions. Active front headrests in Toyota RAV4 petrol models reduce the risk of neck injury during a rear-end collison by moving forward in the event of an impact.
A comprehensive airbag package with driver and passenger side, driver’s knee and front/rear curtain
shield airbags is standard for Toyota RAV4 Limited. An Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) is standard on all models. There are additional safety features in the fully-featured Limited model. Vehicle Stability Control Plus (VSC+), Traction Control (TRC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) contribute to safer motoring and greater comfort. Downhill Assist Control (DAC) that provides extra control on steep decents adds extra security for the Toyota RAV4 Limited automatic model.

As well as looking good, RAV4 is clever. The Active Torque Control 4WD system optimises delivery of power to benefit safety and economy. The intelligent system receives information from sensors
that monitor speed, throttle pressure, and steering angle then automatically controls the amount of torque applied to the front and rear wheels. When starting off, torque is sent to all four wheels for controlled acceleration. During normal straightline driving torque is reduced at the rear wheels making Toyota RAV4 a predominantly front wheel drive vehicle to aid fuel economy and reduce emissions. Vehicle progress is constantly monitored so drive to the rear wheels is instantly re-applied when needed. There is a 4WD lock mode for low speed use up to 40km/h.
Another smart feature is Electric Power Steering (EPS) which uses a small electric motor that operates only when needed. Deleting the engine driven hydraulic pump used in many power assist systems means another source of secondary energy loss has been eliminated. Powering both petrol models is an all-aluminium high output electronically fuel injected 2.4 litre four-cylinder engine.
Advanced Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) delivers spirited performance thanks to 125kW of power and 224Nm of torque. VVT-i improves the engine power output while reducing
fuel consumption and lowering emissions. This compact unit has high response levels and enhanced fuel economy through the use of low friction technology.
